Thanks for the long answer. It just would've been nice to be able to work with a semi-working copy of the program. Yes I know good things come to those who wait like Ketchup but when Ketchup isn't flowing right, don't we slap the bottle or insert a knife in it? ;)
Hopefully we'll be able to get something before end of July...need to start on my Halloween. On that note, I hope Michaels mom gets better. Nothing worst than being sick in summer and not be able to enjoy it! |

All this is the result of one man's brilliant dream. Well, I guess a
few of us test the code to see if it works or not, but all this is the
result of the programming skills of one man. There are also talented
programmers on the beta team (deweycooter, to name but one), which helps
matters quite a bit. What, exactly, are the beta tester roles?
Well, I'm pretty sure you'll already know that's a trade secret that we are obligated to not divulge.
Nothing personal, it's just good business sense to not let competitors
know all of your moves. But to address your other question that I'll
take the liberty to put bluntly, what would happen if Michael were hit
by a bus and was now programming halo's to glow in tune to heavenly
music in the next world? Would his Aurora simply fade into oblivion,
like Doom, a program that was cutting edge at the time it was developed,
but now sadly obsolete thus nostalgic, (like Doom is to early gamers)?
(What?) Well, for that rather long (but blunt) question to be answered, you'll have to ask the
right person, and that's not me. So basically the point of all this,
and I'll put this succinctly, is that I can't help you here. (Told
you. Short and sweet.)
As for your statement, I can confirm that the copy and paste functions are now practically instantaneous. This is old news, which is probably why it urks you; you want to know what's happened since then. And the answer is that while we have made a lot of progress, yes, development has slowed due to family matters that Michael is taking care of. I like to think of this like ketchup. You know, good things come to those who wait. Edited by Jonathan - 18 Jun 2011 at 6:13pm |

Those were the ones I was talking about. The copy and paste fiasco is the urks of me.
On a side note, I know Michael is taking care of his mom and I salute him for that but is he the only developer on the project? Doesn't he have people other than just him to perfect the program? I thought when a program was created, there would be more than one person in case something happened that prevent someone from continuing? A bit like MAME. |

There is a DMX beta copy available, but it is the same DMX beta that has been available since last year (think v1.0.69, but with DMX). To get it, PM LightsOnLogan directly as only Michael can give you access to it. Keep in mind that that version is unsupported, and there are a few hoops to jump through. As for the the beta v1.1 and v1.2 series, those will not become available until development is complete.

I did see Michaels FB post on his mother; completely understand that priority.

Currently, RGB sequencing (other than Firefli) can be accomplished by telling Aurora that the ACx8, ACx16, DCx16 (or LOR controllers) are RGB controllers, and by then assigning the Red, Green, and Blue channels. The software then correctly mixes the intensity levels of the three lights to acheive the desired color. This design was done for those who wanted color washing on their house via flood lights, but it also requires three seperate channels on your controller to work. While that may seem a bit, well, limited by today's standards, this was done several years ago well before RGB products had become mainstream and well before any other sequencer had dabbled in RGB controls. So the short answer is that in v1.0.69, this product will not work.
As for the future of RGB programming (or DMX, other features, release dates, etc., etc., etc.) in Aurora, that information must come from Michael directly. At the time of this writing, Michael is focusing on health issues that are affecting his mother, so it may take a while before he can respond to your query.

Holiday coro is offering a really cool looking snowflake, here is a link to it:
Stock item #123 includes: RGB CoroFlake Package. Overall size (base) of 46in x 45.5in and center snow flake size of 41in x 41in. Includes black coro base, white coro top, coro for vertical sides and four pre-attached brass strain reliefs. Includes 5 DMX controllers, 50 square RGB modules and one power supply.
My question is can I sequence this product with Aurora 1.069? I use LOR hardware, the CTB16PC unit. Would I need a seperate network for the 5 dmx controllers?
If version 1.069, would version 1.1 be able to once it is released?
Am I totally out of my mind even thinking about this?
Tks!
Joe
