I met 2 neighbors that live past my house and they weren't too happy. They didn't call me names or anything but they would like me to start the lightshow later at night to make sure they have time to get home for supper. Right now it's on at 5 til 11 each night until the 1st of January. All taken down by the 2nd.

I shut down earlier than planned last night.  I saw a few data glitches early in the night and then all but 48 of 368 channels of the display went down at around 7:30.  I swapped cords around and never isolated the problem.  The best I could get was to get everything working except 16 of the 48 mini trees and the Firefli arches. Some friends of mine from an hour away drove up to see our show and I had to explain that we were partly non-functional, but they enjoyed it anyway.  During the hour I was out there working on it we only had 3 cars, so I decided to kill the breakers after they left.  We had a good run for 32 days.

Next year I replace all of the data cords... some of them have seen 4 seasons so a problem was destined to happen eventually.  I'm considering getting a spool of proper shielded DMX cable and putting XLRs on my enclosures next year.

The formerly grassy areas between street and sidewalks the length of the block here look like a wagon train went through (muddy/rutted). Have averaged 9-10 cars/hr each night up until the 27th, with packed street on several nights.

Same here, i'm on a cul-de-sac so a ton of traffic would be the end of my display. When another house wants to join the display, rule number one is invite anyone you want, just no media.

Wow!  If I had that much traffic then I would have to shut it down for good.  I've avoided media attention as a result.

Our house, from the main road, is about 3.1Km. On 3 occasions we had bumper to bumper traffic from that road to our house!!!
In 12 days, we have raised over 12000$ for Make A Wish foundation. I never thought in a million years that we would've made that much money. I have an ammo box and one night, I had to empty it 3 times. That night, we had made over 2400$.

Making it on the news sure helped. Newspaper once, 4 times on TV and twice on Radio. All in under one months time.

My wife is already gung ho for next years display. She wants to have new items made from scratch but using oh so many lights!!!!

Merry Christmas!

Our show went well last night, but traffic was WAY down this year compared to previous years.  We only had an average of 6 cars in front of the display at any given time, whereas last time we were getting around 20-25.  Wednesdays were actually our peak days this year, when we were doing a steady 10 or so.  I was really surprised at the drop off in traffic.
