Man it's a long time since I posted in here (work commitments and stuff, I've been out of the hobby for a couple of years)
I still plan to sequence with Aurora next year. Any plans to support the PixelNet 16 Port Active Hub and the Pixelnet Ethernet Dongle protocol/products?
I can see some discussion in this post here: http://www.aurorashow.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1012
But I'm not sure I understand whether Aurora can currently support it with the DMX hack, or whether it's a planned future enhancement for Aurora.
Seems to me that the hobby is firmly heading in the DMX direction anyway, and the Pixnet / Ethernet Dongle offers an alternative and innovative way to connect high count LED lights.
Especially when you consider that the design is carrying both the signalling to the RGB LEDs and also provides the power on a single cat 5 cable. Edited by peteandvanessa - 08 Dec 2011 at 4:38pm |

I'm not entirely familiar with the specific product, so I can not comment on that at this time, but I can say that the direction Aurora is headed is entirely E1.31 and DMX. If the device supports those protocols then it should be fine. If it does not, then you will have to wait until a plugin is available for the device.
We do have some things in the plans for making sequencing with really really high channel counts (e.g. 10,000+) easier than it is today, but those enhancements will will probably not happen until version 2. Michael |
