Android phone as metal detector??

   The most creative thing I've used an Android cell phone for yet.... a metal detector!!

Usually I borrow the neighbor's metal detector to find the anchor eye bolts buried in the front yard which the MT rigging is attached to.  Unfortunately, the neighbor wasn't home when I wanted to raise the MT mast today.  I said to Karetha... check the Android Market to see if there is a metal detector app (I was theorizing that metal must detune the antenna some so certainly an app could be made to read that).  There was one for free in the market and it actually worked quite well.  I found the anchor bolts with a cell phone... who would have guessed!

	Nice - I actually had that one a phone or two ago (mine like to jump off the back bumper of my truck when I drive down the road), but never saw it as more than a gadget. That's pretty slick.

	I had bought a pair of shoes this past summer and each time I went through a security gate, it would go off. I had the shoes scanned for ID tag and nothing showed up. However, each time I went though a damn security gate, sure enough that damn thing would flash buzz beep and so on. Having been fed up being "investigated" each time, I went home and found that app. Sure enough, because of it, I had found an ID tag that had been glued under the sole!!!! Yup, Android phone saved me from going insane....thanks to the Metal Detector app!
