If you like, PM me the file on D-Light (boy, we sure need a PM feature on Aurora's forum), and I'll be happy to look at it. I do run version 1.0.33 though on XP, so my results may vary from yours.

Results are in. Your first message is a bit unclear as to whether the issue is that
the sequence won't play at all, play but with missed commands, or play
super slowly.
Sequencer: File opened correctly, and played correctly with the random audio file I used. Scheduler: File loaded up correctly, and it also played fine. I only used one controller with the random audio file, and with my own show playing (the speaker was right next to me), it was hard to tell if any commands were missed or were choppy. Even though my test was successful, there are a few thing I saw. At the end of the sequence, two commands are set to remain on at 100%: Roof Line and Windows multi-color. Whether you intentionally programmed them to do that or not, I have had issues before with using that trick. Remember it is an undocumented "feature" as as such is unsupported. Try the sequence without them. (If you don't know how to get rid of them, while in sequencer, press the end key to go to the end of the sequence. Then zoom out so you can see past the end of the song. Using the info tool you can then set the cell back to 0%.) Secondly, I take it that this is a shared sequence. There are way too many timelines than those 48 channels warrant. While Aurora will play the sequence even with timeline hell going on, it simply has a lot more to think about, and it will go slower. Consider editing out a block of unnecessary commands to see if playback improves there. While scheduler doesn't need to visualize or use preview frames, it does need to determine if a timeline has a command or not. The more timelines, the more commands it has to process, and the more memory and processing power it takes to do that. Hope this info helps. |

The above is incorrect. Timeline markers are only considered by the sequencer for use as snap points and grid rendering. Playback is performed on the "compiled" version of the sequence which does not make use of the timeline markers (in tech speak, the time sample is combined with the event into a single table for ad hoc selection performance that doesn't require a table join).

I stand corrected. That's kind of cool, actually. So that's even less work for the scheduler to do then. It's strange that Slinkard has better playback via sequencer then.

I guess I should also note that I am following this thread carefully to see if this is reproducable or just an issue for one person. |

I thought it was wierd too, I figured that I would have more of an issue with it in the sequencer than in the scheduler. I think I saw another post on here that the user had the same issue as me too but I forgot who and what the forum was so that helped nobody sorry.
Jonathan the only parts that are being ommitted are the candy canes, they are suppossed to chase each other also doing crossing patterns (they are attached to the top of my fence from right to left.) The slower chases work and the White on red on works just the crossings and fast chases are being trumped on in the scheduler.
Thanks again for checking these out. I can send you they media "For testing" purposes if you would like.

P.S was thinking about removing the time line to improve visibility myself but never got around to it Edited by Slinkard - 09 Dec 2008 at 2:40pm |
