Based upon the information posted to the Aurora Facebook page, I see that a USB to DMX dongle will no longer be supported in conjunction with Aurora. Instead, an E1.31 (Ethernet to DMX) adapter will be necessary. The model mentioned is the EthConGateway ECG-DR4 from Joshua 1 Systems. This adapter with a case and power supply lists for $145 plus shipping. Is this the most cost effective commercial solution available for outputting DMX from a PC running Aurora?

We may bring back D-Light dongle and OpenDMX USB based DMX solutions in the future, but they are not our target for development at this point in time. All active development is focused on E1.31 right now.
We were negotiating with J1 to produce an Aurora branded E1.31 adapter with only 2 universes at a lower entry price point ($89-$99 range), but in the end we decided to focus on the software and to stay out of the hardware business. Michael |

So, in order to use the anticipated version of Aurora, users will need to purchase the ECG-DR4 or build RPM's E1.31 (sACN) to DMX Bridge, unless Aurora eventually/maybe supports DMX dongles. Decisions, decisions.

On this same subject. Can I use two networks with the current version of Aurora one the regular way to my standard D-Light boards and one with the 1.31 protocal?
