With the amount of time and money that we put in our displays, what is the ideal time to turn on the display? I'm not talking about the time as in hours but which date? I'm thinking of having mine turned on around the 15th of November or is that too early? I'm curious to hear (read) what you guys think is the best time.

Going live here too on Thanksgiving night and running until 3 Jan.
Picked Thanksgiving night for the start date because there are several towns around the area that traditionaly turn on their Christmas lights that evening. Also the arrival of Santa Claus at the climax of most Thanksgiving Day parades marks the start of the Christmas season.

I hear Christmas music all year round here!  I think the season started when I got my first controller and hasn't yet ended .  Lowes and Home Depot started the season about 3 weeks ago here, both on the same day. I already bought 2 Walmarts out of the few 5mm concave green LEDs they had so I could rebuld the minitrees in LED Edited by bdkeen - 28 Oct 2009 at 6:08pm

We try to go live on Thanksgiving.  Some years there have been issues which delayed the start until Dec 1.  Aside from some rewiring we're pretty much going to run last year's show again this year. I had some new stuff planned but both the time and budget ran out this year. I may switch out a sequence or two, but they yard layout and light count will be the same.

I will do a couple test runs leading up to Thanksgiving, but go fully "Live" on Thanksgiving night through Jan 1.
