In case it helps anyone... if you're getting bad FM reception and you've tried:
- building a new antenna
  - borrow cable crimper
  - by rabbit ears
  - set it up on the side of the house
- adjusting your transmitter
- breaking out the old documentation on your transmitter and start measuring voltages
- driving down the street to see how it sounds in your car, your friend's, the neighbor's
- waiting for "bad weather" to clear to see if that helps
- frustration watching cars drive off since they can't hear it very well either

If any of this applies to you, try lowering the volume on your computer.

If that doesn;t work and to avoid 4 more hours of hair pulling  Wacko.....if you have crap reception and its plugged directly into the head phone or speaker jack on the computer, plug it into the head phone jack on the computer speaker.

Make sure the wire isn't touching any other wires too.

Yep. Mine does the same thing. There is no overmodulation protection in these small transmitters. If the level is too high on regular audio gear, it's just distorted. But if it the level is too high to the transmitter it overmodulates and produces a sound worse than distortion! Just sounds like bad reception/static.
