First I'm extremely new to DMX, I'm contemplating a project shown at HolidayCoro.com under the corostar assembly instructions;RGB corostars. In using Aurora DMX, which CAT5 pins are used for the DMX data transmission? Just so I understand this whole process I can use the D-Light usb dongle to interface the described DMX Module in their instructions to control the rgb lights?
Thanks for any feedback on this subject Kevin

You need to build a standard ethernet cable, but switch wires 1&2 with 4&5 on one end.

For the existing controllers out there using CAT5, Pins 1 and 2 (Lynx Express, specifically), the "Data -" is on the Orange wire (Pin 2) and the "Data +" is on the White/Orange wire (Pin 1).
The LOR and D-Light boards use Pins 4 and 5, but "Data -" is on Pin 4 and "Data +" in on Pin 5.
So you have to build a "crossover" with a "crossover" since DMX is polarity sensitive. (i.e., Pin 1 to Pin 5 and Pin 2 to Pin 4)

hmm, that's interesting. I'll have to double check how I did it. I don't remember crossing them.

I moved Pin 1 to pin 4 and pin 2 to pin 5 and vice versa

I just looked at my working adapter and it is 1 to 5 and 2 to 4. If I get a chance, I'll make another going from 1 to 4 and 2 to 5 to see if also works. (I think I did that a few months ago but can't be positive)
