Ok, couple quick questions on the scheduler. If you shut off your computer and restart it the next day, will the scheduler start up on its own when its show time?  or do you have to open it up?

If you have 2 shows back to back. What happens if the first show runs over into the second show?    I think I read it plays the song till the end if it falls on over the end time.

One wishlist Item for the scheduler....be able to minimize it...if this isn't already on the list.

But knock on wood, I just tested it with a few sequences and no bugs, although I dont have any controller hooked up to the computer though.

1. You will need to reopen the scheduler after a reboot.

2. The first show will finish the current song at the end time and then will play the close sequence for that show (if one is specified) and will return to the scheduler job queue which will see the next show and start the next show right away.

You could put a Scheduler shortcut in the Startup folder or create a Scheduled Task in Control Panel to start the scheduler one hour before showtime.

(that won't help you with the "Start" button that still needs to be clicked)

The problem, even though you have it in the startup folder, is that you still need a way of clicking that START button to enable the scheduler.Embarrassed

Download this program... you can script it to click your scheduler icon, then click start.... it's free.  http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/ - http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/

That looks interesting, I'll have to download that at home and try it out.

It works so well for this sort of thing... the City of Plano Texas School District uses it to image all 30,000 of it's pcs.  It runs driver setups and stuff durring the imaging... (I'm a network engineer)

so will it start up the program at a certain time as well as virtually push the start key?  Or do I still need to still put Scheduler in the start-up folder?

So playing dumb here for a minute......

So basically I hit "record" on the program and it saves what I do with my mouse until I tell it to stop recording.

Man, if thats the case, that would be great to prank someone on their computer..  Evil%20Smile

That's the general idea.  I used AutoIt for Christmas '06 to command WMP to start a playlist for my semi-static display.  I think that I may have eventually moved on to another freeware program that was less robust, if only because AutoIt was overkill for what I needed it to do.

Okay I got the start of the script. this will open scheduler. At work right now so I can't mess with it too much. I send it to you? also this assumes that you have scheduler dunning in the "C:\Program Files\Aurora Sequencer\aurora_scheduler.exe" directory if not you'll need to change that.

You just run this in your start up folder and it will upon start up:
Open scheduler
then click Start for you

And then you are done. No need to mess with services, just move this file to your start up folder.

I have completed the script. it is an .exe that you just need to drop into your start up folder and way you go.

I would be careful posting email addresses.....Mike said something about getting spam from posting your email address  on forums....

You could PM over at d-light or PC......then just make a note of that here.   Just to be on the safe side.

You have a PM at D-light

Just drop the .exe in your start up folder. But before you do that double click, to ensure it will work for you. As long as you didn't change the directory at install it will, but check anyways.

So then every time I start my computer its going to open the scheduler up?  That may be a issue since as of now you cant minimize the scheduler.

Chris, you can minimize Scheduler if you do it with the "Windows Key" - M combination.
Scheduler doesn't just minimize, it disappears!!!

What I don't know is if it is still functional when hidden.

Figured this out......CNTRL+ALT+ DELETE to open task manager..right click on Borealis...pick minimize....its shoves it down to a old Windows minimize box in the bottom left corner of the screen..Close ..right click and pick Maximize to bring it back up.

Workarounds are nice but the best option would be a software fix.

The easiest and quickest fix would be to  Add some command line arguments to the shortcut of the scheduler. (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Aurora Sequencer\aurora_scheduler.exe" -autostart) so that it can be installed as a startup item. This wont help systems that don't auto logon (need a password to open) but it is a start and a quick and easy development solution.

The ideal option would be to make the Scheduler run as a service in automatic startup mode running as local system account which will always make the scheduler start on system bootup regardless of user logon. Have a switch in the Scheduler software that allows for auto starting of the actual shows- either on or off. This will allow for the shows to be manually disbaled without shutting down the scheduler service.
