I'm going to use my own forum's off topic section to vent some stress... cue the violins...

I've been so busy with Aurora and my own display that I haven't had a whole lot of time for Planet Christmas forum lurking.  I just got a letter in the postal mail from Paul at Creative Displays.  It seems that the LEDs for my display... over $3k worth, are defective and need to be replaced.  I had completely missed this entire discussion at PC so this has hit my display as a major surprise.

This isn't good news.

I don't suppose they will send a next-day or blue-label call tag for them so you can get the replacements by next week, huh?

I'm kinda in the same boat. My controller is waiting at the customs to cross over to Canada. I called the post office this mornings asking what was the hold up. Well there is a 2 week delay in the processing of custom clearing. I don't know if I'll be able to setup the display for the 1st of December. I guess I'll have to listen to your violins as well!!!

Got the same letter yesterday... this explains why a good amount of my lights dont work.  Paul has replaced several strings for me, but other strings that worked just fine when I tested them before letting him know how many I had that were defective are not working now!  Very frustrating...especially for a 1st time customer!

Geeze! From bad to worse! These guys better keep a few halon extinguishers handy!

Guess China ran out of rat poison to kill folks with; now they're trying to burn them.

QC on these have been terrible.  Not only has there been the issue of damage during ramps and the two reported fires, but some sets are just plain wired wrong... LED sockets with polarity reversed, AC line crossed with the DC line, and so on.

To date I have 208 of 288 modified, 8 in the "fix me" pile (4% dead on arrival rate) and 72 to go. I am not very impressed.

Other than a few bas strings that Paul replaces ASAP, I cant really say that I have had any really bad issues with these... or is it that my luck just hasnt turned yet?  After reading about the fires with the C6's, I am wondering if maybe I should rip all of mine down??  I cant really afford to, but I cant afford a fire either, ya know?
