This is not an official update per se (we're not done beta testing it so it's an "at your own risk" thing), but I know a lot of you will be sequencing this weekend, so if you are bothered by one of the issues listed in the release notes below, then enjoy:

Release Notes:
1.0.29
------
- Fixes compile time when saving or sending to lights is too long
- Fixes Events that cross second boundaries disappear from grid when scrolling
- Fixes events that cross second boundaries do not render in visualizer properly
- Fixes corruption of config.dat which can lead to error 76
- Fixes monitor resolutions greater than 2400 wide can generate overflow errors
- Fixes default editor width of backed up workspace after new file creation
should be 8 seconds instead of 0.3 milliseconds
- Improves performance of audio drawing

We still have not solved the AudioOverlay error 6... we're still collecting data on that one which will lead to a fix.

And the download...

I didn't know that Windows 7 was already out.  Or do you just have a special connection.  I am hearing great things about Windows 7 and how it was built.

1.0.29 users...

While using 1.0.29 this weekend I did identify a bug that we will be fixing before 1.1.  I'm posting the description and workaround below:

Conditions: After creating a new sequence making use of "Import channels from file"

Description: When placing events they sometimes appear in an undesired series of channels beneath the channel they are placed in.  Those channels may not visualize properly.  Playback to the lights is ok.

Workaround: These events do not really exist, but the grid rendering system isn't properly handling the "empty channel" scenario.  To get around this, hit the "End" key to go to the end of the sequence, place two timeline markers near the end (past where any "real" events will be), and then use the delete tool to erase the area between the markers for all channels of the sequence.  By doing so a "0% intensity" event will be added to all of the channels and the rendering issue will go away.

Notes: There may be a few other ways to produce this undesired effect as well.  The same workaround applies.

So how far out is 1.1 at this point? Another week? 2? Before Thanksgiving?

We're going live in only 9 days...

The beta testers are testing 1.0.30 which contains some fixes to 1.0.29.  The fixes should take care of some of the quirkiness of empty channels.

Dont get too excited. If you have been playing with MS long enough you know that what they just gave you wont be anything near the final product.  Give them enough time to finish their OS and they are sure to break something in every program :)

Yes... Vista is a good example.  Somewhere between the early betas and final release it was decided not to include certain common controls (intended for support until 2012 mind you).  That wouldn't be so bad (you can always distribute them with the app installer), but nobody thought to tell the security guys that the files were taken out.  To this day Windows has them in the internal "protected files" list and steps all over the installer trying to put them on the machine! If you can get them onto the machine they do work, but getting them there is nearly impossible.

Hey so I seen somewhere on here that we should revert to 1.0.25, is this true? I am going to start my sequencing and want to make sure I am using the right stuff.

Not complaining (well really I kinda am) Last year I downloaded one time and everything worked perfectly in my display from that day forward. I didn't need to worry bout all these updates and could focus on enjoying my display and having parties! Are we going to get to this point this year?

Also from what I am seeing there are varying levels of users and the use of Aurora. Maybe a sticky to let folks know which version will be the most stable for their display. Something like:
* If you are just a typical user that has 32 channels and are just running some of the basic functions 1.0.25 is the most stable for you
* If you are a power user with 64 channel or more and fire flies 1.0.29 is the way to go
* If you are a super user with multiple zones of 32 channels and fire fly with video and lasers with the ability to control your display via your IPhone use 1.0.32

Just my 2 cents (and BTW after all the money I have spent this year on my dang display thats about all I have left!)
