Hello all,

I am evaluating Aurora for use this year. currently all my sequences are LOR II

After importing a sequence I have found that all my unit IDs that start with "D" ( I use d0-df for my d-light controllers and 0-F for LOR) show up as being unit 1.  It looks like an issue with the variable type and interpreting these unit IDs as signed rather then unsigned values during the import.

In the individual channel properties they show up as being on unit 1 (so far a quick scan of 2 unique controllers was consistently this way). In the bulk channel window they show fff (can't see how many Fs as the cell size is static).

Welcome, Frank!

What version of Aurora are you using?  If you are using Aurora v1.0.41 (the version currently available in the download section), then yes, there are a couple of known LOR II import issues.  However, http://www.aurorashow.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=760 - v1.0.68 fixed most of those bugs.  While not an official "release version", I'd recommend trying that version since you are a LOR II user.  Also, since your D-Light controllers are assigned specifically to D0-DF, make sure the "safe haven for firefly" is NOT checked in the playback options (unless you are using firefly).

Be sure to completely uninstall v1.0.41 via control panel, reboot, install v1.0.68, reboot, then try the program.  (Failure to that will result in remnants in the registry to cause issues with the new version.)

Thanks Jonathan

I am using 1.0.68. I downloaded it from the beta link after reading the release notes.

Initially I did install without a proper uninstall but then I did things the right way (I did not think I had a previous version installed)...

So this issue appeared after the uninstall, reinstall cycle.

Before that I was unable to do anything with Aurora.

Other than the channel ID's being misnamed, are you experiencing any other import issues?  Missed or incorrect events, missed channels, etc?

One thing you could try is to make a template file with your channels, and then import the channels from that file into the imported LOR II sequence.

Not a bad Idea. I'll give that a shot.  The fifteen minute time limit on the demo version makes it challenging to do too much.

That combined with my sequences being timed to about .05 seconds with 212 channels makes checking correctness a little tough.

Ah, that's the whole point, ain't it though.  Just enough time to make you want to come back for more.  Wink

I can't recall off the top of my head just how short the timing intervals can be (0.01?), but I have plenty of sequences like yours with short timing intervals, especially for firefly effects.

The BCE (Bulk Channel Editor) is a great feature that easily allows you to manipulate settings on all the channels at once.  If you are looking to see how the program works, you may be interested in checking out the http://www.aurorashow.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=686 - various tutorials available .  While designed to show a user how to get going (they skip the advanced features like the spectrogram note selection or W2E settings), they do show in general how the program works.

Of course, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.  We are a close knit group here and are always willing to help out.  In the meantime, if you could tell us your computer's specs or any other relevant information we'll try to replicate your import issue.
