when not using the display throught he evening, if the pcb (d-light) boards are powered down will they loose their address settings each time?

No, the address is set in the bios.
You can power them down if you'd like. -- We don't

You can plug cat5 in with everything hot. We do.
Al of our board from last year still remeber every setting.
