I still have this issue. I noticed that whatever resolution you originally make the sequence in, stays with it. If you make it on a widescreen monitor, andmove it to a 4x3, it looks squished.... It must save the resolution somewhere in the file.

Bump.
Just curious if anyone has discovered a preferred resolution for the Visualizer image file (large, small, narrow, wide, etc.) I have a very wide front yard, so I either need to have a lot of dead space at the top and bottom of my house picture, or I need to crop it to an insane ratio, like 3:1 or 4:1. I noticed that deweycooter has a very wide visualizer image, being as he's lighting multiple houses, so I'm wondering if there's some secret that I'm missing. But... no matter what picture I use, I'm still having the weird squishing/stretching problems when I import an image for the Visualizer. Cheers! |

Thanks. In the interim I have created a second display profile in the NVIDIA Control Panel that switches from 1280x1024 (the 17" Dell monitor's optimum setting) to 1152x864 when aurora_sequencer.exe is executed. The resolution then switches back to 1280x1024 when I exit Aurora. The JPEG on the "Drawing" page appears normal with any resolution except 1280x1024. The downside is that if I use the entire desktop at 1280x1024 for icon placement, the icons get rearranged when the display switches to 1152x864. Yeah, I know. |

I'll run this through some more beta testing after we get some of the more serious stuff sorted out. |

I should have noted that the squashed "Drawing" picture returns when I set my screen resolution back to the original 1280x1024.
Nope. I just checked the desktop properties and today's newly installed NVIDIA Control Panel. Everything is set to XP and/or NVIDIA defaults. Also reset the monitor to factory settings. There is a new setting that I just noticed in the NVIDIA upgrade...allows programs to use different screen settings. I think that I may try assigning 1152x864 to Aurora, as that resolution seems to allow a close to normal view of the "Drawing" picture, though it does still throw off the correct aspect ratio for other programs. Stay tuned.... |

I'll chime in here. When I view the house in the editor on my laptop (1920x1200), it looks fine. When I take the file to my work desktop and view it in the editor, it is squished. The work computer runs 1280x1024. So 16x9 is ok, but 4x3 messes it up. I created my file on my laptop first, then moved it to the desktop. When I say editor, I am referring to the draw channel function. Let me know if you need me to test anything else. I'd be glad to help.

What you describe after changing screen resolutions is normal when attempting to use a widescreen resolution (1280x960) on a non-widescreen (4:3) monitor. The screen resolution shouldn't matter to Aurora anyway as it resizes according to the available space in drawing editor and doesn't even look at the screen resolution. The only catch could be with "Twips per Pixel" being off (a Windows thing... don't ask). Are you by any chance running an unusual font size or some other non-standard display setting? Okay...here's a new twist.
I changed my screen resolution from 1280x1024 to 1280x960, and the JPEG on the "Drawing" page appears nearly normal, but now everything on my monitor is slightly taller. I verified this by making squares in photo/CADD programs and measuring with a ruler (i.e.: a "square" is now 7-1/8"W x 7-3/4"H). Is the non-geek in me missing some really obvious setting? |

Nope. Just a standard Dell 17" LCD set to 1280x1024. I did have the second monitor output set to TV for an S-Video output to a TV, and I disabled that. But it didn't have any effect on the problem. |
