I've been experimenting with various ways to get video from some of the more "temperamental" computers around our house, and I'm getting pretty close to a useful configuration for Christmas. I've found that most of my problems with S-video/composite/VGA/DVI adapting have centered around clone/dual mode settings, refresh rates, timings, and/or weird resolution issues. What exactly is your projector doing/not doing? Do you have the make/model of your projector handy? What internal video card/adapter/processor does your HP computer have installed? (Go to My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Display Adapters in XP. If you're using Vista, you'll have to find it yourself =:o ) |

So the above mentioned solution.....Didn't do crap like I wanted BTW. Virtual santa plays on it though and I guess that will have to work for this year.

So After doing more searching for a solution to actually hooking the projector up to my computer here is what I have found:
This link is for HP computers but the important thing to note is that this really is an article about how to use the S-Video of your computer and have it used as the output for your second monitor!
In my situation I have a HP slim line case. I am unable to buy a video card due to the case. I do have a S-Video out put on the back of the computer.
Next issue I had was my projector does not support S-Video
![]() With a bunch of these off the shelf proprietary computer makers like dell and HP your kinda stuck with what they give you! I hope this helps someone out there, If not it might in about 3 - 4 years lol. Now will this work???? In theory yes, but I'll keep you posted.

It's becoming far more common. I have a laptop here that not only will do "dual head" between the laptop and an external monitor (not just clone), but after a video driver update the composite out will act as monitor #3 when the laptop screen and external monitor are in use (essentially "triple head"). Prior to the driver update it was mutually exclusive between the external monitor and the composite out. In other words, make sure you have the best drivers for your card.

White - Audio Left
Red - Audio Right
Yellow - Composite video
ATI makes several cards with composite video out.

here is another issue, my projector only has the yellow/white/red (I think that is like AVI plugs). Does anyone know if if video cards support that type of output?

Another point, in the PC post, it stated that you need a reasonably highend video card.
This isn't true, as long as it supports dual monitors (at the resolution of the projector needs), then it should be fine. You can find perfectly good video cards to do the job for less than $50 :-)

Slink,
ONce your sequence is created, create the entire video sequence in MM. It has a music timeline like the waveform in Aurora and Spectrum. Add your black screens and images etc and play it till you are satisfied with the results.
ONce finished, have MM output the file as an AVI. You can then replace the original mp3 file "my new video" with the original "MY ORIGINAL MP3" in the setup screen in Aurora.
Did I clear that up enough or is it more confusing than before. When you are finished, the new file should replace the original.
Set up the video output on settings in the sequence.

Thanks guys,
One more question :)
So you go through do all your sequencing. Then open MM and create a video show for the duration of the song or with the .mp3? Start off Black screen for 45 seconds - then play 15 sec video then black screen for ........ etc. now you do this until you have the exact time of the .MP3 that you sequenced. Then you go back into Aurora and import the .AVI as the music track for the sequence?
okay so that was more then one question
It seems this is the way to go. I have a newer computer that I got last year a 64 bit LCD screen and all. The bad part it is just an off the self computer in a mini case I don't know if i'll be able to upgrade the video card. Hopefully since it is rather new it will be able to drive dual monitors!
Thanks again for all your help!
