I heard rumor that someone had actually got this to work with a 'smart' adapter (i.e. the Lynx dongle or Enttec Pro)..
Is this fact or fiction?
I've tested with a V2 D-link dongle and get varying results on numerous workstations (Win7x64, Vists x32, and XPx32) using the V2 dongle for DMX, where as the Lynx dongles work consistantly across the numerous workstations and OS platforms.
Note: the D-Link dongles work just fine for D-Link controllers and the abnormalities only manifest when using for DMX. Edited by bdkeen - 07 Sep 2010 at 8:12am |

If you are using a high number of channels then the V2 adapter may jitter. I recommend a V3 adapter.
There is also a slight performance advantage to using a dual core machine with software DMX, but I highly doubt it is the answer to your problem. It is unlikely that someone got this to work with a smart adapter. If anyone wants to write a third party interface to the smart adapter DLLs then I can provide the interface specification for AuroraDMXHack.exe. |
