Alright, so the XP requirements are a P3 - 700MHZ with 256 RAM...
1. Is that optimal or minimal for XP?
2. Recomended hardware for Vista?
3. What about Windows Server 2003?
What's the average box specs that's been running Aurora?

Here's what I've been using: XP - AMD Athlon 64 1.xMhz 720MB RAM ATI Radeon 64MB RAM XP - Intel Celeron 800Mhz 512MB RAM VIA on-board graphics chipset. (longer load time but no stutters - scheduler works with no probs) Vista - Intel Pentium dual-core 1.8Ghz, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon Xpress 200M (noteboook) |

Wow... a celeron? Nothing runs on a celeron! Are there any plans on a command line interface or programming API to be added at some point? |

Hey, Windows ME "ran" on a Celeron.......
There is a provision in Aurora for "plug-ins". You've already seen three - the importers. It will likely be awhile before Michael nails down/distributes the requirements needed for a 3rd party plug-in, but it will come eventually. There's bigger fish to fry right now - FireFly and DMX. Booted... yes. did it actually _do_ anything after that?
Yes, must have Firefly support and a color picker! Mine's all ordered and I really don't want to be sequencing 48 channels for 16 pixels. I'm happy to test after mine shows up. DMX, not so much.
So who do I need to talk with about authority/info to create a plugin?

HW requirements & recommendations:
Scheduler:
P3 700MHz 256MB
(this means you can have a really low spec "show computer")
Sequencer:
I don't have an official CPU spec yet, but pretty much anything Intel/AMD 1GHz+. RAM requirements are a bit more for the sequencer portion due to all of the graphic and audio processing. While Aurora will run on less by automatically switching to disk rendering instead of RAM rendering, having at least 1GB RAM is preferred for a less sluggish editing experience (particularly with the wait for "generating preview frames" at higher zoom levels). Playback will not chop without the higher RAM, but you'll enjoy life a lot more with it.
As an aside, while it is not an officially supported configuration, one end user has reported success runing Aurora on a Mac under Parallels.
Plugins:
Hang in there a couple months. We have the importer SDK and file manipulation SDK completed but not documented. The exporter SDK is next followed by the protocol SDK and of course all of the documentation.

I have it installed on my 2003 server - if I had a sound card it might work . I'm setting up another 2003 server to try load it on. I tried it on Windows 2008, and forget it. - videoedit.ocx doesn't and won't register so I'm giving up on the 2008 attempt for now.
I'll go back to trying 2008 sometime later but for now I'll settle on 2003.
