What version of Aurora is this?

It sounds like the COM port is in use by another application.  You should only run either the sequencer or the scheduler at any given time (not both at once).  Also, do not run the hardware utility when Aurora needs to send to the lights.

If it is not any of the above, you can try shutting down the program, unplugging and replugging the USB-485 adapter then restarting Aurora or Borealis.

Can the hardware utility control the lights?
Fine. You're so smart you rig up the lights.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I was using a USB drive to transfer a sequence that I was working on at work.  I thought I saved it to the "home" hard drive, but that was not the case.  Unknowingly I removed the USB drive and the error occured.  All is well now.  Thanks again.
